Mijn advies: kies $1-10; eat anything; Manhattan (als je daar bent natuurlijk). Ik print de resultaten uit en neem ze *altijd* mee. Sommige reviews zijn al wat ouder. Even crosschecken bij chowhound.

Barnes and Noble fantastische boekwinkels met koffie en broodjes. Ook aardige lezingen etc.
Filene's basement, labels for less!
Canal Jean jeans etc etc goedkoop en veel. Ook veel (leger)dump in de kelder.
Er was een site met alle winkels die uitverkoop hielden. Waar is ie?
thrift shops listing van tweedehands kleding winkels. Sommige van de beste: Repeat Performance en hun buren de Goodwill Industries en de Salvation Army, op 220 E. 22rd St. Hier oa halen de kunst- en modestudenten en modellen hun hippe en luxe spullen vandaan. Er was een betere site, maar die is (even?) weg. Er is wel meer weg...
Strand Books - heeft nu ook eindelijk een site. De Slegte van NY. Veel splinternieuwe boeken en erg veel recensie-exemplaren. In de kelder staat alles op alfabet. Prima als je weet wat je zoekt: maak een lijstje vooraf. Zeer aangeraden. (De winkel, dan.)

A Photographers Place on 133 Mercer Street. Photographic Books of All Types Bought and Sold. Not the most tidy place you've ever seen, and not cheap either, but they did have A LOT. They plan to return, but to the web only. So watch their space.
